I may be a little late in this, however the idea is pretty new to me.

And no, I’m not refering to those parasitic advertisements that hijack Websites.

Parasite Advertising is coined by mleak from flickr, where corporate and brand logos are painted on live insects and before releasing them back into the wild.

I’m not too sure if I will inch in to take a closer look at any of those crawlies if they appear in my vicinity, let alone try to make out what brand it carries on its back.

It could deliver contextual marketing though, if cockroaches are branded with the Shieldtox logo…hm.

    Was telling other pple about branding on insects.. now on closer look, looks like it’s photoshopped… haha

  2. haha.. i don’t suppose so.. if you click on the link to flikr, mleak explained that he froze the insects/bugs before painting on them, and that he also did some photoshop work because the paint was flaking off.

    Looks like parasite advertising may not be that feasible in real life after all, with the problem of flaking paint..
